We recently completed a bespoke fly screen installation for a customer in Heswall on the Wirral, supplying and installing a combination of window and door screens designed to improve comfort, airflow and practicality throughout the home.
The project included three Serene window fly screens, a double Legacy French door fly screen, and a single Legacy door fly screen. Two of the window screens were fitted in the kitchen, while the third window and the double French door screen were installed in the conservatory. The single door screen was fitted to an upstairs balcony door, allowing safe ventilation without compromising security or comfort.
The Customer’s Requirements
The homeowner wanted to reduce heat build-up during the summer months while still being able to open windows and doors to let fresh air circulate naturally. Living close to the River Dee estuary, flies and insects can be more noticeable at certain times of year, so effective insect control was a key priority.
Another important consideration was her house cats – she wanted the reassurance that they could not escape through open windows or doors while still maintaining good airflow throughout the property.
The Solution
The Serene window fly screens provided a neat, discreet solution for the kitchen and conservatory windows, allowing ventilation while keeping insects out. These screens blend seamlessly with existing windows and are easy to operate when needed.
For the doors, the Legacy range offered a robust and practical option. The double French door screen in the conservatory allows both doors to be opened fully while maintaining insect protection, and the upstairs balcony door screen ensures fresh air can circulate safely without the risk of pets slipping outside.
The Result
The finished installation has made a noticeable difference to the home. The customer now enjoys cooler rooms, better airflow and significantly fewer insects entering the house. Importantly, her cats remain safely indoors while she can keep doors and windows open with confidence.
This project is a great example of how fly screens can improve everyday comfort – particularly in areas close to water where insects can be more prevalent – while also providing peace of mind for pet owners.
